Ernesto Bastidas Obando joined Eurofins this week as International Business Developer Horticulture. Here he introduces himself.

“ I grew up in Colombia, where my parents had a rose nursery. From an early age I was engaged in the day-to-day operations in the family farm. I learned to deal with environmental, commercial and social factors to put a year effort into two special dates (Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day) for the cut flower market in the United States.

Dealing with such market challenges has been a cornerstone of my professional career. I have been connecting farmers, growers and agribusinesses across different geographies and commodities with commercial digital solutions, helping them to make informed decisions about their day-to-day operations.”

“Working at Eurofins in The Netherlands gives me the opportunity to learn from the birthplace of high-tech greenhouse agriculture. As an International Business Developer at Eurofins Horti, my aim is to bring the analyses of Eurofins into the pool of solutions to farmers, growers and corporates.
